André on the Gras...
I heard André Codrescu on NPR on my way home from work this evening. Not one of his commentaries, but just an interview. God he sounded depressed. Is there anything more depressing-sounding than an Eastern European when he's depressed? He's still heartbroken over the irreperable loss to New Orleans of its people -- the people who left and aren't coming back.
It's Mardi Gras tomorrow. We'll be throwing beeds from our balcony in Somerville to some friends in the neighborhood. I've never been to New Orleans and I guess I never will be to the city that it once was. But for tomorrow at least, we can pretend!
